Select your handgun permit category. If you are applying under the new guidelines for personal protection, select the bottom option, "Personal Protection/ Category Not Listed Above."
If this is your first time applying for a Wear & Carry Permit, select "Original".
Read each question CAREFULLY and answer TRUTHFULLY! Even if you have a prior charge and it was expunged, you MUST disclose that information.
You may upload documents at the end if necessary.
If you wish to type out your explanation of your history, type it in Microsoft Word or another program first and then copy and paste it into the section on the website. The website will time-out pretty fast and it will delete your inputted information if it times out.
You must answer all questions truthfully.
For question 15: You may simply leave it blank or enter "Self Defense."
For this section, you must enter information for any employers you have worked for in the previous 5-year period.

You will need to list three references. Information required is:
PASSPORT PHOTO
You may have your passport photo taken at any local business that will provide this service. You will need to have the photos sent to you digitally so you can upload them to your application.
You may also download any number of apps for your smart phone and upload them that way. We DO NOT recommend any specific app for this service, nor do we encourage you to download an app. The download and use of apps is done at your own risk.
TRAINING CERTIFICATE
You will need to upload a copy of the Maryland Wear & Carry Course Completion Certificate that was provided to you on the second day of class.
FINGERPRINTS
Upload a copy of the receipt for your fingerprints that was sent to you by the agency that performed your live-scan. If you had your fingerprints done in class, you will be looking for an email from "American Fingerprinting Services."
Under current MSP Directive you will not need to upload any documents in this section as they are no longer required.
On the final page, you will be informed if there is any missing or incomplete information. You will not be able to officially submit your application if you have any "INCOMPLETE" fields remaining.
